About this place
Skövde Konstmuseet sits in the heart of Skövde, a mid-sized Swedish city whose identity has been shaped by waves of industry, migration, and civic life. The museum building itself is a landmark — but the streets that surround it carry stories that rarely make it inside any exhibition.
This experience was created as part of Att Bryta Ljud 2025, a site-specific sound art event organised by K.Skaraborg and Platåbergens UNESCO Global Geopark, bringing cultural experiences out of galleries and into the landscape of rural and urban Skaraborg.
The experience
The prototype invites you into a gallery without walls. Three unfinished artworks hang around the museum plaza, each facing a different part of the city: Hotel Billingen, the Church Park, and the Cultural House. You are asked to finish one — not by adding to it, but by stepping into it. Walk toward the piece that draws you, and the place it frames opens up in sound: its architecture, its history, the music it still seems to carry. It is a small paradox dressed as a choice — the observer becomes the observed, and the work is only complete because you were in it. The framework is modular; the same structure can be shaped around almost any city's streets. The route takes roughly 10–20 minutes on foot.
How to use
Make your way to Skövde Konstmuseet. Open in Google Maps →
Open this page in your mobile browser, then tap "Start Experience" below. Keep the browser open while you walk.
When prompted, allow the browser to access your location. This is required for the GPS system to work.
Follow the audio as you move through the site — step into marked zones to unlock narration. Explore at your own pace; there is no timer and no wrong direction. (This experience was designed alongside physical frames installed during Att Bryta Ljud. If you visit independently, the installation may not be present — but you can still access all audio content via the interactive map points.)
You will need to be at the location for the experience to work.
